When L&J got in touch for their save the date couples portrait session in London I knew we were in for a fantastic shoot! L&J met here in London at university and fortunately for us, we were able to get a few minutes inside their former university library to take a few portraits! I was already super excited at the prospect of shooting inside a library but had no idea that we would also stumble across an old film set in the surrounding streets. That’s certainly something that will be difficult to repeat!
The movie set must have been for a historical drama and we happened to pass by just before they started filming so we were able to grab a quick few shots! Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and this will happen again someday! You just never know what to expect in London…
I often do photoshoots for couples in central London and love the diversity it offers - little park squares with some greenery, cute park benches and all the classical architecture. It allows me to get a real mix of photos despite being in the centre of the city. It’s a different feel to shooting in a big wide open park but if you want a sense of London in your portrait session then this is the way to go!
I shoot in a variety of locations across London and I’m always open to new suggestions if a certain place has some special meaning or context for you. I always aim to capture natural moments showing the love, warmth and happiness of being together in relationship. I also try a few alternative portraits from time to time experimenting with different depths and light - no harm in experimenting for a few shots to get something a bit more quirky!
Above all, I want us to have fun during our photoshoot together. I prefer to keep things relaxed and encourage spontaneity when it fits. We’re all different - perhaps some of us like things more romantic whilst others want something a bit more quirky - we just go with the flow and see what unfolds. I’ll offer some light posing and tips to make us look at our best but I like to focus on the moments in-between and encouraging some natural interaction between each other.
